How to buy

Simple steps to import your vehicle from Japan.

Importing a vehicle from Japan might seem complex — with HAT CO., LTD. it is a secure, transparent and guided process. Follow these simple steps to get your vehicle delivered safely to your port.

Step by step

From your first inquiry to your port.

Five clear stages — and our team guides you through every one of them.

  1. Step 1: Choose your vehicle & inquire

Browse our stock to find the car, SUV or truck that meets your needs and press “Inquire” or “Get a quote”. Can’t find it? Contact us — we can source vehicles directly from Japanese auto auctions.

  2. Step 2: Receive your Proforma Invoice

Once you finalise your selection and agree the price, we issue a Proforma Invoice (PI) with the total cost of the vehicle and the shipping charges — on FOB, C&F or CIF terms, depending on your preference and country.

  3. Step 3: Make a secure payment

Secure your vehicle by bank Telegraphic Transfer (TT) within the payment window stated on your PI, then send us a copy of the TT slip by e-mail or WhatsApp so we can confirm the transfer quickly.

  4. Step 4: Strict inspection & shipping preparation

When payment is confirmed, our expert mechanics carry out a strict pre-export inspection to ensure excellent condition and performance. We then book the earliest available vessel — Ro-Ro or container — to your port.

  5. Step 5: Documents & customs clearance

After the ship departs Japan we send the original shipping documents by DHL or FedEx. Hand them to your local clearing agent to release your vehicle from the port.

Payment

Secure payment by Telegraphic Transfer.

To secure your vehicle, please arrange payment by bank Telegraphic Transfer (TT) within 48–72 hours of receiving your Proforma Invoice.

Then send us a copy of the bank receipt or TT slip by e-mail or WhatsApp, so we can confirm the transfer quickly and move straight on to inspection and shipping.

Payment window to be confirmed by HAT CO., LTD.

Shipping

Ro-Ro or container, booked on the earliest vessel.

After the pre-export inspection we book the earliest available vessel to your target port. We advise the right method for your destination when preparing your quote.

Ro-Ro — Roll-on / roll-off

The vehicle is driven onto a specialised car-carrier vessel and driven off at your port. Usually the most economical route.

Container — Containerised

The vehicle is loaded and secured inside a shipping container — extra protection, and the choice for ports without Ro-Ro service.

Inspection

Strict inspection before every export.

Upon confirming your payment, our expert mechanics carry out a strict pre-export inspection to ensure excellent condition and performance. Where your country requires a specific certificate — for example JAAI for Bangladesh — it is arranged and sent with your documents.

  • Condition & performance checked
  • Country certificates arranged (e.g. JAAI)
  • Condition information shared with you

Documents

Original documents, by international courier.

After the ship departs Japan we send your original shipping documents by DHL or FedEx. Hand them to your local clearing agent to release your vehicle from the port.

  1. 01

    Bill of Lading (B/L)

Issued by the shipping line — your title to the cargo at the destination port.

  2. 02

    Export Certificate

In English and Japanese, confirming de-registration in Japan for export.

  3. 03

    Commercial Invoice

The final invoice for the vehicle and the agreed terms.

  4. 04

    Inspection certificates

Any certificate your country requires — for example JAAI for Bangladesh.
